Grand Canyon National Park Information

Contrary to popular belief the National Park Service does not operate any of the accommodations in Grand Canyon National Park. All  accommodations and other activities (mule rides, tours, etc.) are operated by private companies.

All Grand Canyon National Park lodges , mule rides ,bus tours , Phantom Ranch and other activities on the south rim will be operated by a new concessionaire contract.

The current contract expired on December 31/98 allowing a new company to manage the lodges in Grand Canyon Village. After the awarding of the new contract (good for 10 years) the concessionaire will be entitled to manage all the lodges , restaurants , gift shops , mule rides , tours , and other Grand Canyon activities .
